Youth Pastor

God is good! If you’re Nazarene, you know the drill…and if you don’t, well…it is still true! He has worked in so many ways in my 23 years of life, and few bigger than with my call to ministry. I grew up in the very small town of Byron, Michigan, which is about 20 minutes southwest of Flint. My mom, Janelle, grew up in Israel because her parents were missionaries there until they moved back to America when she was 16, and my dad, Jay, grew up as a pastor’s kid. So, my parents both moved around a lot when they were younger. Because of that, they did not want to move at all, so I, along with my younger brother, Jacob, lived in the same house, went to the same high school in Byron, and the same church, West Flint Church of the Nazarene, from birth until I left for college at Olivet Nazarene University.

When I first got to Olivet, I had planned on being a teacher. I was in that program for 2 years. During those two summers, I had the privilege of working at Waters Edge as a camp counselor. It was there, in my second summer, where I got my call to youth ministry. I attended camp at Waters Edge every year that I could growing up, so it was really cool to me that I received my call there. God has been so faithful to me throughout my time in ministry with countless blessings and reassurance. When I returned to Olivet, I changed my major to Christian Education and graduated with that degree in 2021. Right after I graduated, I began working on a Masters of Arts in Ministerial Studies, which I graduated from in May of 2023.

After graduation, I accepted a position at Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Naperville, Illinois. While I was on staff there, by God’s grace I also helped lead the effort of relaunching teen camp on the Chicago Central District. I was there until March of 2023, which is when I accepted the position here at Richfield. It is so great to be back in Michigan and on EMD where I grew up and I am so excited to see how God is going to work here.

A couple things about me, I have a passion for sports, mainly basketball, football, volleyball, and ultimate frisbee. I’m an avid Detroit sports and Michigan Wolverine fan. I also enjoy camping, Marvel, and board games. I am not currently married, and while I do have a desire to be someday, Lord willing, it has allowed me to give that much more time and effort into the church, and specifically the youth group, which I am so blessed to be able to do and enjoy it SO much. As I said, God is SO good. He is moving and working in so many ways both in me individually, and in the church, and I am just excited to be along for the ride!
